A three panel folding vanity mirror in a gilt frame, with beveled glass in all three sections and cast floral rosettes at every corner. The side panels swing on brass hinges so you can angle them in and see yourself from any side, and the whole thing folds flat for storage. Small turned feet let it stand on a dresser, and a brass chain across the back means it can hang on a wall instead.
The backs of the outer panels carry original printed scenes of women in period dress, now settled into a deep crackle under the old varnish. Both sides are finished, so the piece looks intentional whether it is open on a dresser or hanging folded on a wall.
Sold as found. The gilt has worn through to the base metal in places and there is some loss along one panel edge, all of which is honest age on a piece this old. The mirrors are clear with light wear at the edges.
One of a kind. Found and sold at Coyote in Columbia Falls, Montana.
